Common problems encountered in the application of silicone die
1. Why does the mold silica gel have less mold turnover times?
Too much silicone oil is added in the process of making the mold, which destroys the molecular weight of silica gel, so the mold will have less mold turnover times and will not be durable. If we make small products with complex patterns, and use silicone with high hardness to open the mold, we will have fewer times to turn the mold, because the silicone will be brittle and easy to break. On the contrary, if we build products and use silica gel with low hardness to make molds, the results will also be unsatisfactory. Because the silica gel is too soft, its tension and tear strength will be reduced, and the mold will be deformed, so the number of mold turns will be reduced. The mold glue itself is of good quality. There is no good or bad silicone, only suitable or unsuitable. We should use silica gel that is suitable for the hardness of the product to make the mold.
2. Why does the mold silica gel burn the mold?
Because the unsaturated resin and resin products with peroxide curing agent will generate a lot of heat in case of resin reaction. Generally, the curing time of the resin is 3 minutes, so the mold should be released as soon as possible after 3 minutes to prevent the silica gel mold from burning.
3. Why does the silica gel in the mold not dry in the surface?
Mold silica gel is a condensation type silica gel, which is solidified by absorbing the moisture in the air. This phenomenon occurs when silica gel evaporates the moisture during the manufacturing process without adding the proper amount of moisture. Solution: This phenomenon is not a product quality problem, but because the water content is not controlled, the storage life of silica gel is improved, and the shelf life is long. As long as the silica gel is used, add an appropriate amount of 0.05% water, and stir evenly, some problems can be solved.
4. Why does the silica gel of the mold have poor tension?
In order to reduce the viscosity of silica gel and make the silica gel easy to operate, the customer added a large amount of silicone oil to the silica gel in the process of making the mold, which will make the silica gel very soft, resulting in the phenomenon of tensile resistance, reduced tear strength, and poor tension, resulting in the mold is not durable, short service life, and fewer times of mold turnover.
5. Why does the mold leak oil?
The silica gel of the mold itself will not emit oil, which is due to the addition of composite silicone oil (a compound of silicone oil and white mineral oil) during the operation, because white mineral oil is a petrochemical product, not silicone oil.
6. Why is the mold not resistant to acid and alkali and aging?
In the process of making silica gel mold, we recommend that customers do not add any silicone oil. If necessary, the amount of silicone oil added should not exceed 5%~10% at most. Because too much silicone oil will damage the molecular weight of silica gel, the mold will not be resistant to acid and alkali and aging.
7. Why are there traces, stripes and unsmooth on the surface of the mold made of silicone?
This phenomenon occurs because the product or model to be copied is not polished or polished. In fact, the model or product itself is not smooth or perfect, so if the product or model to be copied has not been polished or polished, the mold made of silica gel will be ugly and not smooth enough. Another situation is that when the mold release agent is applied, the mold will not be smooth if it is not painted evenly.
