Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC)



1. Performance and use: This product is a non-ionic cellulose ether, which is white powder with no smell or taste. It is soluble in water and most polar organic solvents, and swells in cold water to form a clear or slightly turbid colloidal solution. The aqueous solution has surface activity, high transparency and stable performance. HPMC has the property of thermal gel. The product aqueous solution forms gel precipitation after heating, and dissolves after cooling. The gel temperature of products of different specifications is different. The solubility varies with viscosity. The lower the viscosity is, the greater the solubility is. The properties of HPMC with different specifications are somewhat different. The dissolution of HPMC in water is not affected by the pH value.

2. Product application

Hydroxypropyl methyl fiber is mainly used as tablet adhesive, film coating material and matrix material of sustained-release tablets in oral preparations; In topical preparations, it is mainly used as suspending agent and thickener of ophthalmic preparations, as well as as emulsifier, suspension and stabilizer of gel and ointment.

1. The viscosity of USP is 80% - 120% when the nominal viscosity is equal to or lower than 100mpa · s, and 75% - 140% when the nominal viscosity exceeds 100mpa · s.

2. The viscosity of European Pharmacopoeia is 80% - 120% when the nominal viscosity is not more than 600 mpa · s, and 75% - 140% when the nominal viscosity is equal to or higher than 600 mpa · s.
